If you aren’t quite to the point where you are strong enough to pull-ups/chin-ups on your own, using a band is the way to get there. My trainee Christine does 5 pull-ups utilizing the lightest band in the gym. I have no doubt she'll be doing them on her own in a few months.

Tony Horton does the Lever pull-ups in a couple of his One on One videos. I decided to ad an "L" in between each lever. Surprisingly works your triceps as well as back, biceps and forearms when you have to push back from the "L" to the Lever.
