See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Wellington - Lord of the Rings Tour "This morning I took the bus from my camper van park to the Te Papa Museum to be picked up for my Lord of the Rings location tours. I meet Colin Beasdale in front of the Te Papa museum where he was sitting in the Flat Earth Tour van. It was going to be a small group, just two of us today and it was a Monday morning, the city had a going to work vibe, but that wasn’t bad. Some days are busy with wine tours in Wairapa region and some days are bust touring Lord of the Rings sites. Colin has played several "extra" roles, including a rohan soldier at Helm's Deep, the guy who roles up the chains in King Kong 2005, and the Waterhouse (he plays a guy whose job it is to cut and guy fish). We head off to pick up our second member of the tour, whose name I forget, but I know she is visiting from Finland. We start our tour in downtown Wellington and head over to Weta digital and Stone Street Studios in the suburb of Miramar (very exciting!). Peter Jackson owns many warehouse buildings in the area, and has alot of the props and costumes stored throughout. We stop by an old loading dock where the ship, the SS Venture, for King Kong was used.
