Anaglyph 3D shaky test video and mini-review of Neo3D, Kona 3G and Panasonic pro 3D monitor

This is a very short video of a parade I shot in Las Vegas, New Mexico in summer 2010 with two GoPro Heros in homemade 3D rig (looking forward to the 3D case coming out!). The 3D conversion was done in Feb 2011. This was my first test using Cineform’s Neo3D software paired with Final Cut Pro and a Kona3G card feeding dual SDI signals to a Panasonic BT-3DL2550 passive monitor. After a long learning curve due to seriously outdated and incomplete documentation from Cineform, I finally have the hang of how this all works. Here's the background on the video. The GoPro's were set to shoot at 1280x960 because I knew I'd be cropping part of the top and bottom later. I imported the files into a 1280x720 sequence in FCP (center cropped), then synced the left and right files using Plural Eyes (Note: GoPro's are not as good as genlocked cameras obviously, but you shoot with what you can afford! Hopefully the new 3D case/cable will enable genlock). After syncing, I exported separate left/right files using Apple's ProRes 422 codec. This takes a long time even with a new 8-core tower, but the quality is excellent. Next I used Neo3D's Remaster to re-encode the files into Cineform 422 codec. This must be done before they can be imported into Neo3D's Firstlight. Firstlight quickly turns the two files into one full res stereo file. I haven't been able to export directly from FCP to Cineform, not certain if that is possible. I used Firstlight to keyframe convergence and other 3D settings. This is very necessary with most files and is what you get for $2999 vs. $499 for NeoHD (you'd think for that much extra money they could hire someone to write a current manual, this would have saved me and them a lot of time with their support team). I discovered some bugs with the Kona 3G card and FCP. FCP freezes up if the external video playback is not set to match the currently playing sequence.
