Jury continues deliberations in Astorga trial

0 of 5 Stars
jurors in Michael Astorga’s murder trial recessed just moments ago-- wrapping up the first full day of deliberations. armed with another question for the judge-- the jury was unable reach a verdict today. kayla anderson has been covering the astorga trial for us since it began — nearly a month ago. she's live at district court with more. the jury has spent nearly 11 hours so far deliberating this case. in a stark contrast to the nearly month long trial-- judge neil candelaria's courtroom was empty today-- with the exception of some guards and court staff. we didn't see any jurors throughout the day. but we do know they asked just one question concerning some evidence they worried was missing that included a criminal indictment for michael astorga's wife.. and a picture from the crime scene the night deputy mcgrane was murdered. both items are believed to have later turned up. michael astorga will head back to the new mexico state pen santa fe this evening -- where he's being housed on death row. i asked the judge's office -- if they don't reach a decision by the end of friday-- is there a possibilty they could be sequestured over the weekend? i was told they couldn't answer that
