[universal joint] numbered clebsch diagonal surface

The work shown here are unique, new models of Clebsch’s Diagonal Surface - a very famous model in the history of mathematics and machine design - and it's complex configuration. The work is based upon previous research revolving around a Classical Mathematical Model Collection, presented at Siggraph in 2008. This work was based upon an original collection of 23 white plaster based models are recreations of a series designed to present types of singularities possible on a cubic surface. The models demonstrate abrupt, or "catastrophic", changes in form. This portion of the collection was originally made by Carl Rodenberg under the direction of the famous mathematician Felix Klein. Unlike the original collection these models were created using both mesh-based and nurbs-based mathematical modeling, computer aided design (CAD) and rapid prototyping software (RP). The original models are currently presented as solid 1:1 recreations on Shapeways.
