An original play directed and written by Paris Shih, "The Phantom of the High School Musical" was first performed at National Chengchi University by Department of English '11 in Taipei, Taiwan, on December 16-17, 2010. The classic musical, "The Phantom of the Opera," is going to be performed at St. Agnes High School. At the first audition, Ms. Ferris fails to find ideal students to play those charming roles. She therefore pushes the most talented student, Elizabeth, to play Christine, even though everyone says Elizabeth is an arrogant mean girl. Elizabeth seems to be reluctant, but she finally determines to play Christine, and it is all about the secret she hides from everyone else... Ms. Ferris decides to hold another audition, yet the students should compete as a pair. The popular Jason and Ariel, encouraged by their friends, agree to compete against Elizabeth. However, the lonely Elizabeth finds no one to sing with her, until the mysterious boy, Eric, appears... What is Elizabeth’s secret? What makes her change her attitude and decide to play Christine? Would Jason and Ariel threaten Elizabeth's dream? What will happen between Elizabeth and Eric? Would the musical be successfully performed? "The Phantom of the Opera" is going to be performed, and all the answers will emerge in the end.
