(사)3·8민주의거기념사업회(공동의장 정기창·최우영)가 주최한 이번 3·8민주의거 50주년기념 학술대회는 3·8민주의거와 선구적 시민의식이란 주제아래 3·8민주의거의 역사적 의미를 재조명하고 4·19와 3·8정신을 계승하자는 자리가 되었다. 송백헌 대전시시사편찬위원회 연구위원은 '3·8민주의거, 그 역사적 의미'라는 기조강연을 통해 “3·8민주의거는 자유당 정권의 불의와 폭압에 맞서 대전고등학교 전교생이 궐기했던 충청권 최초의 학생운동이자 지역 민주화운동의 효시”라며 “그럼에도 불구하고 다른 지역 의거와 달리 유독 3·8민주의거만은 대전 시민들의 무관심 속에 제대로 조명 받지 못하고 있어 안타깝다”고 말했다. 이어 김정남 전 청와대 교육문화사회수석비서관은 '4·19혁명과 3·8의거'라는 주제발표에서 “4·19는 어느 날 갑자기 폭죽처럼 터진 게 아니라 2·28대구고교생 데모와 3·8대전고교생 데모, 3·15마산의거, 4·18고려대생 데모 등 일련의 사건들이 이어지고 쌓여 4·19대폭발을 이뤄낸 것”이라고 의미를 부여했다. '4·19와 3·8정신의 계승과 발전방향'이란 주제발표를 한 김웅락 대전대 교수는 “4·19혁명정신은 봉건적 전근대적인 권력과 사회에 대한 저항에서 찾아야 할 것이며 3·8민주의거의 정신 또한 4·19와 별개의 것으로 규정되지 않는다”고 강조하며 “혁명정신의 올바른 계승과 이해, 전환적 변화의식이 민주주의를 위한 발전방향이 될 것”이라고 제시했다. 한편 3·8민주의거기념사업회는 2월 28일 대구의거가 대구시민의 날로, 3월 15일이 마산시민의 날과 경남도민의 날로 지정되어 있는데 비해 3월 8일은 대전시민의 날이 되지 못한? 대해 이를 대전시민의 날로 지정하기 위한 범시민 공감대 확산에 주...
