You tell the customs worker that you are in China for a meeting and will only be staying for a few days. Checking your F visa, which will allow you to stay until your conference is over, she also asks if you will be doing any traveling outside of China, such as to the Mongolian border. You tell her in Chinese, "No, I am in China only for business and will go home immediately following the meeting." She hands you your Chinese visa and you are on your way to your meeting.
