It’s not what you see at first look that should scare you!

iReport — With all the different news stories going around the web and news channels it is hard to get the real picture or truth about what has happened and is happening to our beaches. With most of the news stories coming out being focused on Louisiana and the extreme damage to our marsh lands there and the peoples lives it is affecting. That is can be difficult to sift through and get the real story. As a person who has vacationed along the gulf coast beaches from Panama City Florida to Biloxi Mississippi, I am very familiar with the beaches and how they should look and what kinds of things happen along our beaches throughout the year. In the past several weeks I have traveled along the coast from Louisiana to Florida and have seen enough to believe there is more not being told then is being told. If the media clogs up the media stream with so many stories about the gulf, people will get numb from seeing it and reading about it enough that people get tired of seeing it and change the channel or click a different story. I have video footage of a beach I will not mention its location that was hit very hard by oil in the last week or so and then it appears they (being BP, Government, or Local Authorities) are hiding something. As a resident of the area who walks the beaches all the time I know what color the sand is here and how it feels and recently after walking several beaches along the coast it appears someone is covering up the oil. I walked a beach over the weekend and at first glance it seemed very clean and it didn’t appear any oil had even been there yet. But when looking real close and digging in the sand I found something very disturbing to me. Looking at the beach and in the water there was no visible sign of oil if you looked hard you could find a few tar balls but not many, it was what I found in the water and under the sand that disturbed me.
