Abner Jordan lived on a farm with his wife and children in Lisbon where he also ran sawmills. But when the revolutionary war broke out, he left his family to fight for his country. He died in 1820 and was buried in the Davis Cemetery, but he was never given a headstone until Thursday night. 'When I was a little kid we would come up here and mow certain lots with my family and my aunt said we got a relative right there, we got to get him a stone,' said Forest Jordan Sr. At 75 years old, Forest Jordan Sr. is Abner Jordan’s great-great-great grandson. He said for generations, the Jordan family wanted to buy a headstone for Abner but for one reason or another it never got done. So, Forest took it upon himself to finally make it happen. He contacted the military which then had a new headstone created for a hero from a very old war. Photos: War Hero Honored 'They delivered it by truck and my husband and I were feeling overwhelmed to see it because we waited a long time to get his stone,' said Linda Jordan. 'Whenever we'd go by we'd say Abner we're going to get a stone for you. And we've been putting the American flag every Memorial Day for him so at least they know there is a revolutionary War soldier there,' said Forest Jodan. Abner Jordan's gravestone has his name, date of birth, the date he died and name war in which he served engraved on it. The military service is something the family is very proud of. Six generations of Jordans have served in the military including Forest Jordan Jr., who came all the way up from Florida just for this momentous event.
