We drove from Queenstown to Glenarchy (45 minutes), oops we forgot to get gas last night, will be make it? Yep but we add a few liters at the only gas station in Glenarchy for the return trip. Then to the stables were we got our wet weather gear. Jacket, pants, and mud boots. The rivers were very high and they suggested using their rubber boots. I choose not to but Valerie thought it would be a good idea. We hopped into their van and they drove us out to one of the pastures with the horses. Valerie rode Cain and I rode Zodiak (16 hands). Off we rode up the valley to the Rein (sp) River. Where I was very pleased to have a tall horse as the rivers were very high. The guide crossed the river first and he had to attempt the cross 3 times before find a path that would allow us to cross without having to swim. It was interesting to watch as the guide walked out and had to float down river to turn and return to try again. In the end we all crossed and I didn't have wet boots! More to come ..."
