Elle a été fondée en 1977 par Paul Watson, un écologiste canadien, que Greenpeace avait renvoyé pour son penchant extrémiste. Et pour cause ! Chez Sea Shepherd, on coule les baleiniers ! Ce type d'action radicale a valu aux employés de l'ONG d'être considérés comme des pirates. Mais ces derniers en sont fiers. Ils ont d'ailleurs adopté le célèbre crâne sur drapeau noir comme logo. Mais qui sont vraiment les pirates, entre ces écologistes qui tentent de sauvegarder les espèces en voie d'extinction, et les braconniers, qui pillent les océans ?
