高松宮殿下記念世界文化賞の受賞者発表 受賞者ら、エリザベス女王主催の歓迎会に出席へ
芸術・文化の分野で優れた功績を挙げた人に贈られる第23回高松宮殿下記念世界文化賞の受賞者が決まり、イギリス・ロンドンで発表会見が行われた。発表会見は、日本時間11日午後8時からロンドンのホテルで、日本美術協会総裁の常陸宮さまご夫妻も出席されて行われた。2011年は、音楽部門で日本の指揮者・小澤征爾さん(75)、演劇・映像部門では、イギリスの女優、ジュディ・デンチさんら5人の受賞者が決まった。絵画部門の受賞者は、アメリカのビル・ヴィオラさんで、生命の誕生や信仰といった宗教的、哲学的なモチーフを水や火などを用いて表現して、数々の傑作を生み出し、「動く絵画」ともいわれるビデオアート界の第一人者となった。彫刻部門は、イギリスのアニッシュ・カプーアさんで、ヨーロッパのモダニズムとインド文化を融合し、ステンレスなどを使い、小さな作品から巨大な作品まで話題作を次々に発表している。建築部門は、メキシコのリカルド・レゴレッタさんで、大胆な色使いや斬新なフォルムなど、現代的感覚の中にメキシコの伝統文化を織り交ぜた独自のスタイルを確立し、80歳の今も意欲的に創作活動を続けている。音楽部門は、指揮者の小澤征爾さんで、世界の名門オーケストラやオペラハウスの音楽監督を歴任し、日本ではサイトウ・キネン・オーケストラとの活動などに力を注いでいる。病を克服し、本格復帰した世界のオザワの今後の活動が注目される。演劇・映像部門は、イギリスのジュディ・デンチさんで、イギリスの人間国宝ともたたえられる実力派女優で、「恋に落ちたシェイクスピア」では、わずか8分の出演時間ながらアカデミー賞助演女優賞を受賞し、その存在感を示した。若手芸術家奨励制度には、イギリスのロイヤル・コート劇場若手劇作家プログラムとイギリスのサウスバンク・シンフォニアの2組が選ばれた。受賞者らは、常陸宮さまご夫妻とともに、バッキンガム宮殿で開かれるエリザベス女王主催の歓迎会に出席することになっている。授賞式は、10月19日に東京の明治記念館で行われる。
