## Shot 04/14/2010. ## The investigation into misconduct at the San Francisco crime lab now goes beyond the former worker who admitted to stealing cocaine, to several other technicians accused of having made mistakes. San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi says it’s necessary because in an interview, lab technician, Deborah Madden, clearly tells police she saw huge discrepancies when drugs were weighed and this, she claims, had been going on for years. "The magnitude of this problem could be as many as 100,000 cases over the years," he said. "Well I've seen tons of times when we re-analyze someone else's dope, the weights have been way off," Madden said during an interview. In that interview, Madden says those discrepancies were never reported and workers inside the drug lab just laughed at it. Madden also said she never took drugs from evidence envelopes, but admitted taking small quantities home if any cocaine spilled at her work station.
