Iq187 Tech Talk #6 - Google just unvieled "Google Wallet" and "Google Offers" for smartphones w/NFC the race is on Hey Guys whats up, Google just unvieled "Google Wallet" and "Google Offers" for smartphones using Near Field Communications or NFC technolgy. It basicly turns your phone into a wallet and lets you pay, redeem offers, and earn loyalty points - all in a single tap of your phone. More and more retailers are partnering with Google right now to become Google SingleTap merchants. To find them goto the Google/Wallet Where it works webpage, Merchants wont be hit with any charges for using Google Wallet either. That’s way cool. It also works with with Mastercard's Paypass meaning 300000 merchants around the world and 120000 in the US are good too go now. It's a wallet you can lock too. There will be multiple levels of security. There's the phone lock, a required Google pin, credit card information encryption, and your credit card number is never fully displayed. Initialy "Google Wallet" will give access to a Citi MasterCard. But it will also include a prepaid Google card or Gcard that you cand fund with any of your major credit cards. Google will begin initial field testing of the Wallet in New York and San Francisco this summer. To start, Google Wallet will be compatible with Nexus S 4G, available on Sprint and connect only to MasterCard PayPass terminal.
