John Brumby - Jobs for the Future Economy

Regional Victorians will benefit from more jobs and greater investment in green industries thanks to the Victorian Governments $175 million plan to help industry transition to a greener future. Premier John Brumby said tradespeople, energy and water employees, manufacturers, and scientists would be among the jobs to benefit as the Government positioned Victoria to exploit opportunities in the green economy. The Jobs for the Future Economy Action Plan will generate job opportunities in emerging green industries and help secure jobs in traditional industries as they transitioned to a sustainable practice, Mr Brumby said. Launching the regional components of the action plan in Bendigo today, Regional and Rural Development Minister Jacinta Allan said Jobs for the Future Economy Action Plan provided significant new opportunities for regional Victoria. Just as we are committed to securing an environmentally sustainable future for our children and future generations, the Brumby Labor Government understands it is equally important that we secure them jobs for the future by attracting investment in green industries in Victoria, Ms Allan said.
