突然、菅首相から飛び出した原発のストレステストについて、東京工業大学原子炉工学研究所、澤田哲生助教に聞きました。菅首相は6日、「しっかりとしたストレステストといったようなものも含めて、検討していただいているところであります」と述べた。突然、菅首相が言い出した原発のストレステスト。ストレステストとは、「耐力試験」のことで、ある製品や材料がどのくらいの圧力、張力、摩耗などに耐えられるかなど、信頼性を確認するため行われる。実際にそのストレステストを体験するため、サンスター文具株式会社を訪れた。「ご自由にお踏みください」と書かれた下にあったのは、筆箱。「ゾウが乗っても壊れない『アーム筆入』。びっくりするほど丈夫だよ」という、昔懐かしいCMでもおなじみの、あの筆箱。この筆箱を持って訪れたのは、100トンまで圧力をかける装置などで、各社のストレステストを請け負っている、財団法人・神奈川科学技術アカデミーの高度計測センター。1.5トンまで耐えることができると表示のあった筆箱は、なんと、1.7トンもの圧力まで耐えることができた。さまざまな製品で行われているストレステスト。果たして原発のストレステストとは。(原発のストレステストとは、どういったことをやる?)先ほどの筆箱の例では、ゾウが踏みつけて、かなり極端な例を示して。それをまた、やれるという形で、人々に安心感を抱いていただくようなことだったと思います。今、ヨーロッパで始まっている原発のストレステストなんですけれども、これはかなり極端な状況を想定して、最悪の事態になるまでに、どれぐらいの安全性の余裕があるかを確認する、そういうことを目的にして行うものです。EU(ヨーロッパ連合)が発表したストレステストの内容は、「何らかのトラブルにより電源を喪失したとき」、「冷却機能を喪失したとき」、そして、「電源と冷却機能の両方を喪失したとき」の3つの場合について、最悪の事態になるまで、どのくらいの時間的余裕があるのか、また、追加の対応策は考えられているのかを検証する内容となっている。(次の手を打つために、どれぐらい時間的な余裕があるかを把握するためのテストのようですが、実際に電源を止めたりということもある?)それはないと思いますね。あくまでも、どれぐらいの時間、安全性を保てるかをコンピューターを使って、シミュレーションで解析するテストなわけです。ですから、原発...
