King (R-NY), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, announced that on Thursday, March 10 he will convene the first in a series of hearings on radicalization in the American Muslim community. The hearing is entitled: "The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community’s Response." What: Committee on Homeland Security Hearing: "The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community's Response" TICK TOCK: 930a Gavel 935a Opening statement - Chairman Peter King 945a Opening statement Dem ranking member - Benny Thompson 955a - 3 members of congress who are witnesses will speak for 5-10 minutes each: John Dingell (alone) Keith Ellison (alone) Frank Wolf (alone) (I'm told there will not be Q and A with the members - because "the point is to hear from witnesses and not have a debate among members") Next: 4 people on the panel of witnesses will come to the table and give opening statements: Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, President and Founder, American Islamic Forum for Democracy Mr. Abdirizak Bihi, Director, Somali Education and Social Advocacy Center Mr. Melvin Bledsoe, Private Citizen Sheriff Leroy Baca, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (Democratic witness) Next: Committee Q and A. Each member is allotted 5 minutes for Q and A. I'm told they did the math and found that if all 33 members of the committee participate, there will be 2 hours and 45 minutes of questions. They expectation is to conclude the hearing at about 2p which is a rough estimate. Right now there is no lunch break planned, but possibly other shorter bathroom breaks.##
