Daniel DANEYROLLES présente l'émission depuis le parc du château de Chaumont sur Loire où se tient depuis 6 ans le Festival international des jardins. - Florence MAILLOTTE, jardinière, présente brièvement le jardin japonais de Takano qui s'intitule "du ciel à la terre". - Cécile DELACROIX, jardinière, commente ce jardin d'eau japonais. Elle explique que le paysage japonais est toujours la représentation d'un micro paysage, parle du symbolisme des couleurs au Japon, de l'utilisation fréquente des petites plantes. - Jean-Paul PIGEAT, directeur du Festival, parle de l'idée qui a présidée à la création du festival: aider à faire naître un nouveau style de jardins. 90% des jardins présentés sont créés par des gens sélectionnés sur concours, des créateurs invités. Ils ont droit à un budget de 80000 F maximum et doivent s'en tenir à une parcelle donnée. - Delphine LEMAISTRE, paysagiste, parle du jardin qu'elle a créé et dans lequel elle a utilisé des objets détournés comme des pampilles de lustre, de son accès, très sombre et sensé faire penser à un parcours initiatique. - En Sologne, Jean-Luc DURAND et Pascal MARIONNET, des pépinières Marionnet, explique comment a été créée la fraise Marat des bois et comment on la reproduit. - DOCUMENTAIRE : Le jardin de l'Université (réal. Francis HUGUET) - Bernard HEITZ, directeur du Jardin botanique de l'université de Strasbourg, fait un historique de ce jardin. Il explique qu'on y conserve 6000 espèces de plantes et présente plusieurs spécimens : des bambous sortis de terre le 15 mai et qui ont atteint 15 m de haut, un arbre fossile vivant. Près de l'étang il montre un cyprès chauve dont les racines sortent de terre et servent à la respiration de l'arbre.
