Mother’s reaction to Michael Brooks plea of not guilty-Raw Footage-WSIL YouTube.mov

CARBONDALE — Emotions ran high Thursday morning at the Jackson County Courthouse. Two mothers became outraged after a man accused of molesting their children plead not guilty to sexual assault charges. Herbert Brooks, 21, is a former employee of the Carbondale Boys and Girls Club. Brooks is accused of molesting multiple boys under the age of 13. Brooks had announced plans to waive his preliminary hearing-- meaning none of the details would come out in Thursday’s court hearing. However, the mothers of the alleged victims were not prepared to hear Brooks plead not guilty. It was the mothers of the young boys who acted-out in the courtroom. Court bailiffs forcibly removed the women -- One officer was seen using a taser on one woman. News 3 spoke with one of the women after she was released from jail. "I was tased three times-- on both my legs and my side and that's the mark," said Forrestine. News 3 is not providing the last name of the parents so as to protect the identity of their children. "I thought they (officers) were going to throw me over the railing to tell you the truth," said Forrestine who is the mother of three of the alleged victims. She expected Brooks to plead guilty. Forrestine says police knocked on her door-- explaining Books had offered up her children's names-- during questioning concerning another child.
