High energy made for a vivid red carpet at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Co-host of the show Anne Hathaway shone on the carpet in a bright red gown. Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow glimmered in form fitting gowns in gold and off-white. Paltrow talked about her nerves before singing a nominated song from her film "Country Strong." "I think it’s just pretty nerve-wracking. It's a like a lot of people watch this show and I hope I don't completely mess it up," said Paltrow. Oscar-winner for best director for "The King's Speech" Tom Hooper said he felt like he was an athlete gearing up for a big game. "I found it quite hard to sleep. I kept waking up with massive adrenaline surging through my body and thinking that this is not a sporting event. I don't need that much adrenaline. But it is the possibility to speak live to half a billion people, you'd be mad not to be a little nervous," said Hooper. Others like Hugh Jackman and Jeremy Renner were just there to have fun. Renner, who was nominated for best supporting actor, said he was just planning on enjoying the night. "Expectations? No, I try not to have any expectations in my life anyway. What do I hope for, I hope not to die." As for red carpet fashion, ladies dazzled in dresses that hugged close to the body and sparkled with sequins.
