Responding to pocketmego’s response to the Amisbro's Cartoon Violence Discussion www.youtube.com www.youtube.com Censorship is wrong and belittling. Proper solid role models are important. Outgoing extravert kids will often latch on to a role model even if the parents have too little time for their kids. Teaching kids fake humor and violence from real violence is something we've been doing for centuries. Kids are good at that. Otherwise even the stories of the Grimm brothers can be too much according to some... Why do censorship and have special censored versions for the young? I think it is more clear to have a good R-rating and stick to that. For some things people can be too young - you should watch Jaws with a 3-5 year old and then happily go visit the beach wih the family... Censoring out the shark and the kids on rubber floating devices enjoying the surf from the movie will not help... We're raising adults, children have to learn how to deal with violence. They need to learn that after watching a comic cartoon or even the Marx Brothers it's not okay to drop 10Ton Acme weights on top of their sibs or try to poke their eyes out. Fake violence in media, stories and games teaches kids to harnass their anger, frustration and learn how they can express that in a safe way.
