>>DW-TV: Asteroiden, die Brocken aus dem All, liegen normalerweise ganz friedlich im Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. Jörg Fritz, was kann denn ein Asteroid erzählen? Jörg Fritz: Dieser Stein besteht hauptsächlich aus Eisen und ist der Kern eines Asteroiden, der sich in der Frühphase gebildet hat. Und um an diesen Kern heran zu kommen, muss natürlich der bis zu 200 Kilometer große Asteroid vorher in Stücke gebrochen sein, damit die Fragmente dann später zur Erde kommen können. Das heißt, im Asteroidengürtel ist er schon mit anderen zusammen gestoßen? In gewaltigen Kollisionen wurden die Asteroiden in kleine Stücke zerbrochen. Und so kleine Stücke können dann als harmlose Geschosse hier auf die Erde fallen. Meteoriten haben für die Entwicklung der Erde eine sehr sehr große Rolle gespielt. Eine These ist, die Dinosaurier vor 65 Millionen Jahren sind ausgestorben, weil ein Meteorit sie sozusagen ermordet hat. Wahr oder unwahr? Es gibt verschiedene Massensterben in der Geschichte und der Fall der Dinosaurier ist der einzige Fall, wo wir ganz klar sagen können, dass der Asteroid der Täter war. Man kann an diese Grenze des Massensterbens den Finger legen in der geologischen Geschichte und sagen, hier ist es passiert. Davor war die Kreide, danach ist das Tertiär. Ein Meteorit soll ja überhaupt Leben auf die Erde gebracht haben. Ob jetzt Leben an sich damit auf die Erde gekommen ist, darüber streitet man noch. Weil bisher ist es ja nur auf der Erde gefunden worden. Und es könnte vielleicht durch Meteoriten auf andere Planeten kommen, aber zumindest die Bausteine des Lebens, die Aminosäuren, sind wahrscheinlich durch Kometen oder Meteoriten auf die Erde gebracht worden. Jetzt wird die Erde ja sehr oft von Meteoriten getroffen. Sollte man beim Spazierengehen immer die Augen offen halten, ob man vielleicht einen findet? Nun, wenn man eine Leuchterscheinung am Himmel sieht und vielleicht ein Grollen am Himmel hört, dann kann man natürlich mal gucken, ob man in der Nähe eine...
