携帯電話リサイクル推進協議会が設立 レアメタルのリサイクル促進が狙い

レアメタルのリサイクル促進を狙いとして、総務省や経済産業省などが中心となり、携帯電話リサイクル推進協議会が7日に設立された。捨てられずに、たんすや引き出しの奥にしまってある携帯電話。ヤマダ電機では、1年前から使わなくなった携帯電話の買い取りサービスを行っている。このサービスは、使わなくなった携帯電話を買い取り、中古として格安で販売するというもの。機種の発売時期や本体の傷などにより、買い取り価格は変動するという。ヤマダ電機の携帯電話担当者は「買い取りの考え方を持ったお客様が増えている」と語った。人気のスマートフォンは、買い取り価格が3万円を超えることもあるという。携帯電話のリサイクルにつながるこの買い取りサービスは、すでに多くの家電量販店が行っている。そして、携帯電話のリサイクルをめぐっては、7日、総務省や経済産業省などが中心となって、携帯電話リサイクル推進協議会が設立された。出席者は「レアメタルが市場に暴騰する状況で、資源の回収リサイクルも1つの課題となっている」と語った。こちらが目指すのは、レアメタルのリサイクル促進。これまで携帯会社や販売店などが自主的に行ってきたリサイクル活動などを、さらに促進させるのが狙い。しかし、そこで課題となるのが、携帯電話に詰まった個人情報の漏えい。そこで、回収ボックスが設置されている家電量販店では、データが記録されている基盤に破砕機で穴を開け、データを読み取れない状態にしたうえで回収するという。ビックカメラ有楽町店の携帯電話コーナー担当者は「1年間でおよそ2万台回収しています。(基板に)穴を空けて、第3者に情報を見られないようにしています」と語った。総務省総合通信基盤局の桜井 俊局長は「国民に最も普及している携帯電話のリサイクル。データが流出するのではないかという不安感などを、払拭(ふっしょく)できるような環境整備をしていく」と語った。
