Djsmithwick’s travel blog entry: "After an overnight flight and train trip from the airport we got to our hotel early afternoon. Thanks to Helen and Marco, the Montpensier Hotel was ideal for us-only 150m to the Louvre! On a street mentioned in 'The Da Vinci Code' no less - Rue de Richelieu Went for a walk near the Louvre and up through the gardens towards Champs Elysee to the Obelisk. We returned along Rue Saint Honore and had a glass of wine at a street cafe. Soaked up the atmosphere!! Overslept breakfast but boy did we need the sleep. Bought a 2 day open toppped bus ticket and this was a god move. This company has 4 different tours around different parts of the city. We ended up taking all 4. Got to walk along the Champs Elysee and J just had to go into the Loius Vuitton store. J climbed Arc de Triomphe whilst D kept feet firmly on ground. Drove past Eiffel Tower and other famous landmarks. Took another tour bus to Montmarte and spent time at Cathedral Sacre Cour. It started to pour and so we waited, causing us to miss the last tour bus home. Wlaked along the narrow streets for a few km which wasn't so bad anyway.For the next day we again took the tour busses from near Notre Dame and through the Bastille area, then changed to a bus through Montparnesse (left bank).
