一般而言，長者均對入住安老院舍感到反感及抗拒，但長者如遇上中風及嚴重骨折等問題，入住具有醫療設備的安老院，則可獲較佳之照顧。長者確診病症後，可透過醫生安排入住醫療式安老院，並透過一系列密集式的復康計劃，使長者可於康復後離開安老院再與家人同住。這項計劃可有效減低入院安老院對長者及其家人所造成的壓力，可謂一舉兩得！ 有指笑與瑜珈是養生之道，把兩者結合效果會否加倍？耆康會王華湘紀念長者鄰舍中心主任 周碧珊解釋，「愛笑瑜珈」早於外國流行，近年才引入香港並成為長者的新玩意。現時耆康會轄下之社區中心，均會於每週舉辦一節愛笑瑜珈訓練班供長者參加，參加者由60-90歲不等，深受不同階層長者歡迎。愛笑瑜珈與一般瑜珈有所不同，主要透過大笑及特定之呼吸方法進行，並無太多體能要求，即使是行動不便的長者也可樂在其中。有謂獨樂樂不如眾樂樂，長者更可選擇加入愛笑瑜珈班之義工隊，為不同社區之長者推廣愛笑瑜珈，藉以把歡笑帶給每一位長者。
