Then you can keep reading... Puerto Natales is a nice little town struck by 120kmh winds where the maximum temperature is 10 degrees in summer. It wouldn't be touristy if it wasn't because it's the starting point for tours to las Torres del Paine. Torres means towers in Spanish and Paine means blue in the Aboriginal language. Since these towers are not blue, I reckon the name comes from the colour of the lakes, a fantastic turquoise due to the sediments coming from the various glaciers (also here, heaps of glaciers). Things that were awesome about the "W" trek around las Torres del Paine, los Cuernos del Paine (cuerno=horn) and the Glacier Grey: - the blueness of the lake - the shampoo packets at the first refugio - our friends we made on the way - boxed wine at the refugios - Sofía stomping in the mud the entire way home the fourth day Things that were sucky: - they didn't give us any information about the tour - they dropped us off without vouchers or a clue of what to do next - we had literally to run for the ferry, which had literally already taken the walkway off - they dropped us off with not quite enough time to see the glacier - the weather sucked for 99.96% of the time (please remember that ...
