東江上游的藍綠藻濃度，每年上升，是甚麼污染了河水？ 學者估計，因為惠州水土流失嚴重，令泥土的礦物質，或農田的肥料流入河流，造成污染。水土流失，除了因為大量砍伐樹木，竟然還因為種樹。廣東省由八十年代開始，大量種植桉樹，因為桉樹種植四至七年，即可成林，木材鬆軟適宜造紙，為農民帶來豐厚收入。但種桉樹，先要「煉山」，即是把原本的山林灌草，砍盡燒盡，再種植桉樹。桉樹呈傘狀，林層結構簡單，在暴雨下儲水及阻水的能力，只有天然林木的三分一，令水土容易流失。 種樹種出禍，部分縣巿近年已經停止種植桉樹，但村鎮農民，仍然繼續燒山種樹，因為桉樹養活了不少農戶。農民問，要生態，還是要飽飯？東江水源又怎樣做到無臭無害？ 記者：鄭思思
