West Mesa victims' families react to latest developments

some new information tonight about today’s big developments in the west mesa buried bodies case. we've been following this story since it broke before noon. albuquerque police and fbi agents are now in joplin, missouri checking out some properties connected to the case. is this the break that leads albuquerque minute thumbnail 10:00 pm police to the west mesa killer? the news certainly has 11 families paying very close attention right now. including daniel ldez, the father of michelle valdez, who was one of the eleven women found buried on the mesa. "when my daughter called and said it was on the news, it gave me a sense of hope. and i thought, yes, yes maybe this is the final piece to the puzzle. maybe this is something that the families of both the identified and the missing can have something to put their teeth into and hold onto." we also talked with jane perea today who had this message for whoever took the life of her 15 year old daughter jamie barela. "if we don't get you, you'll pay with god, because you took a very big part of us away. part of my life i'll never get back. she was only 15, she never hurt nobody, ever." this is what we know about the person who's property is being searched. minute thumbnail 10:01 pm he's joplin resident ron erwin. he is not being called a suspect or a person of interest. police searched at least one home and a photography studio belonging to erwin. but those search warrants remained sealed tonight. erwin's mother told the associated press he was in albuquerque six years ago for balloon fiesta. that's right around the time when police say most of the women disappeared. the joplin globe reports that erwin declined to comment--but indicated he may talk later. his mother was surprised to hear her son's name come up in the case-- telling the paper it's the silliest thing she's ever heard. late tonight apd spokesperson nadine hamby told us a mother of another victim cal...
