Making Extended Wheel Nuts for Shovel, Axe and Jack Holder

I needed to make a carrier for a high lift jack, a shovel and an axe for my Toyota Prado. I came up with this design which works for me. Material for the extended wheel nuts is 12L14 Hex Steel 13/16" AF which is the same dimensions AF as the original Toyota wheel nuts so I can use the original Toyota wheel brace. The hex posts are machined on my home made CNC Lathe using my own designed gang tooling setup. All tool holders have been designed and manufactured by me. I use carbide tips for the Master Tool (35 degree diamond) mounted at 3 degrees so I can face as well as OD turn and a RH 60 degree threading Insert. The Spot Drill is 10mm 90 degree made in Australia by Suttons. The main drill is 10.5mm Jobber. Recently I upgraded the Z Axis Stepper Motor from Nema23 430oz-in to Nema34 630oz-in after I encountered missing steps during the threading of this part. Now it threads fine!! The controller is an old Dell Laptop using Mach3 and a Smoothstepper for the USB interface. Works Great!!!
