The horse the world cried for

Barbaro is a racing legend. He won the Kentucky derby in 2006 by an incredible distance. He later went on to the preakness, where he broke out of the start gate before the bell. After being reloaded into the gate, the preakness began. Barbaro was the favorite to win, but things changed when his jockey pulled him up less then a quarter of a mile into the race. Barbaro had shattered the bone in his right hind leg. He was x-rayed then sent into surgery the next day. Things began to look up for America’s horse, until laminitis set in his other hind leg. He fought for 7 long months, with a positive attitude, and America cheering him on, until one day in January, he couldn't fight anymore. His owners decided it was time to put him down, at the young age of 4, because "he just wasn't himself." Barbaro is and will remain to be a racing legend. America never gave up on him, and wept when he died. Barbaro was injured almost exactly 4 years ago. Rest in peace, pretty boy. Run free.
