The Surfstream™ built by American Wave Machines has redefined artificial wave machines. Built with the sole purpose to recreate the true feeling of surfing by allowing riders to use real surfboards with real fins on the bottom of the boards. Because the machines creates a standing wave rather than a progressive wave the rider can surf for as long as they choose. This also allows for the machine to be monetarily profitable by decreasing the footprint and power output needed to run the machine. Because there is no down time between waves..like in standard wave machine...the amount of rider able to surf in a set amount of time is greatly increased. With installations in Taiwan, Turks & Caicos, Sweden and Peru..the latter having the "tubing wave" American Wave Machines is providing a product that will allow surfing to reach every part of the planet. How it works. A deep cushion of water is pumped at a natural river speed over bottom contours that create different standing wave shapes. Int he world related to surfing there are only two types of surf-able waves...the linear moving waves like you see in the ocean and standing waves like you see in the river..that is all. In the ocean the wave travels though the water. In the river the water travels though the wave. Because surf developed at the ocean most people only know about the linear waves.....but when it comes to creating man made waves for surfing the standing waves are much more suitable.
