I ended up having to change seats on the Bus at the Cusco station because it seems my seat number was also sold to someone else and each time I'd pick a new seat, a person would show up and kick me out. All seating is arranged when you buy your ticket for Buses leaving the original terminial. Once the Bus leaves the terminal though, any available seats are open to people getting on. So all I had to do was wait until we left and pick out the best seat. I'm telling this story about the seats because it's how I met a Brazilian guy who was sitting up front on the top level (most long distance Buses have two levels). He was going to Puno as well and I asked if we could share a taxi into the City once we got to Puno. He agreed, and we ended up sharing a double hotel room because of a deal worked out at the Puno terminal when we arrived. A man offered to take us to his hotel and give us each a single room (with bath) for 10 Soles. The rooms turned out to be a double and a single and the single didn't have a bathroom. We offered to take the double, but at a lower price and the owner gave it to us for 16 soles (8 soles each, about $2.50). The ...
