After 15 years of faithfull service our air mattress died on us, going down during the night, making it necessary for Ash to pump it up again. We had to buy a new mattress at greatly inflated price of course lol. 700kms. of gravel road from Kununurra to Derby. There has been no rain at the Kununurra end of the road, so that is no problem. The roads closer to Derby (500-600kms away) have also been opened by the Main Roads Board. We spent 2 nights in El Questro Station one of the most famous outback stations in this area. It cost us $103 for 2 nights. $17.50 pp for the El Questro Permit (without the permit you cannot stay here) $17 pp pn for camping. They do provide hot showers and flushing toilets, but no electricity etc. There was a mob of cattle wandering through the camping area, but they try to keep the donkeys out because the donkeys will eat our food. A nice looking restaurant overlooking the whole area and the small river running beside the camping area. Ash walked every gorge available, I was a bit more selective. Mornings were OK and cool, but by the afternoon it was getting very hot, so Ash went by himself. There are 100's of people here.
