CA:UNEMPLOYED WOMAN STARTS BUSINESS

Shot 12/28/2010.## A woman who has been unemployed for more than a year has decided to open up her own business. Last December Juanita Bradshaw, of Oildale, was struggling to get her unemployment benefits from the state and contacted 23 ABC looking for help. 23 News learned that many unemployment benefit cases were back logged due to a large number of requests. After that story aired, Bradshaw received her benefits with in a week, but the job search has been tough, so she decided to go into business for herself. On Tuesday 23 ABC’s North Of The River reporter Mark Christian caught up with Bradshaw to see how the new endeavor was going. Christian said it's a story of someone making their own way in a difficult situation, an individual who is not looking for handouts, but instead wanting to be self-sufficient. Bradshaw is an unemployed educator who has been on the job search for more than a year with no job prospects, so she decided to be her own boss. "I have been trying to find a job. I have pounded the pavement and have stacks of denial letters as my reward. I could not find work, so I bought a job with my savings and now I am my own boss," said Bradshaw.##
