A traditional-style RPG from Level-5 and Square Enix, Dragon Quest VIII is indeed the eight installment of Enix's flagship series, and the only one I've ever played to date. It follows the exploits of a daring young hero (that you name) and his efforts to help lift a terrible curse off his liege, King Trodain. But their journey may become a great deal more complicated than originally planned, when a mad jester-mage by the name of Dhoulmagus gets involved... I've played a number of video games in my time. Currently, I confess, Dragon Quest 8 might just have the greatest overworld map of them all. Even my beloved Skies of Arcadia would have trouble competing; from wide green plains to snow-capped peaks, from dense forests to arid desert wastelands ...
