something I cooked up in after effects based on someone’s request. Its now as perfect as I would want to make it but I have been short on time due to school work. I will see what I can do for a tutorial.. that is after I finish my other tutorial series...which will have to wait till school's done :( Heres a basic breakdown of this effect though (For just one meteor thing). -Two layers using a particle system (particular or something) -One point light -Set the emitter #1 to track lights, load up a sprite of a smoke cloud (google is ur friend), set the life to a number higher than ur composition, make them grow a little from birth to end (size at birth and size at death), randomize it a little -Keyframe the point light and make it animate (this will be your meteor thing, the smoke cloud will follow it). Also turn down the velocity on these because you want them to stay in a trail -(Explosion) -Set the particle layer #2 to make large amounts of particles (clouds) for 0.5 sec (use keyframes) and set the motion to outwards. Rotate it in 3d space to get it to align with the direction of the meter - Optionals: a. Add a glow to the light by adding a new yellow / orange solid sphere and making it follow the light/meteor - Lastly, you should try to colour correct the layers to make their colours match your setting. b. add a lens flare.
