カニ型探査車、砂漠で修行中　ＮＡＳＡが模擬探査公開

　【フラッグスタッフ（米アリゾナ州）＝勝田敏彦】米航空宇宙局（ＮＡＳＡ）は１５日、アリゾナ州北部の砂漠で行っている月や火星などの有人探査用の車などの技術開発試験の様子を報道関係者に公開した。　この試験は、今回が１３回目。アポロの宇宙飛行士も訓練したという砂漠に、宇宙飛行士が寝泊まりできる探査車や宇宙基地の一部となる居住棟など試験機を用意し、２週間の模擬探査を実施。飛行士も参加し、機器の性能などを調べている。　宇宙基地も運べる探査車はタカアシガニのような形で６本脚。月の険しい地形でも移動できるよう工夫されている。　オバマ政権は今年、月探査の代わりに小惑星や火星などを目指す方針を示している。担当のジュリー・タウンゼントさんは「目的地が小惑星になってもほぼ同じ設計で対応できるでしょう」と話していた。
