Update on Hettinger Courtroom Shooting

One day after a gun was pulled in a Hettinger courtroom, the Adams County Sheriff is planning to beef up security. Sheriff Eugene Molbert says he was in the courtroom when Vincente Chicano pulled a gun after being convicted of two counts of gross sexual imposition. Chicano was accused of molesting a girl who was younger than 15. Molbert says Chicano pulled the gun from inside his pants and pointed it first at the prosecuting attorney Jon Bryers, then at Molbert who was standing near the jury. Molbert says both he and Bryers restrained Chicano before he could fire. (Eugene Molbert / Adams County Sheriff) "I could see him trying to work the action but he never got a bullet in to the chamber, I tried to knock the gun out of his hand and he missed and he stepped back I was in front of the jury and he tried to load it a couple more times and Jonathon Bryers basically tackled him in fron of the judges bench and I jumped on him getting the gun out of his hand and away from him. " Molbert says they do have a metal detector, but only use it on occasion. There will be an investigation into charges which could range from one to several counts of attempted murder.
