Giovi Lamp Redesign Domus Academy I-Design’10 Juan Pablo Giraldo, Jessica Bala, Tamer Aslan Prototype 1 The Giovi Lamp 1982 Design: Achille Castiglioni 1982 Production: Flos The wall lamp Giovi produces a luminous radiating pattern on the wall. The wall fitting holds a cylindrical cage made of 24 slats to house the socket and distance the light source from the wall. The lower half is covered by a metal screen, a truncated cone, in which the bulb can pass and which, on one side prevents glare, and on the other, supports the reflector. www.achillecastiglioni.it The Project: Our brief is to redesign on of the Achille Castiglioni lamps in an interactive way, adding behaviors to the lamp to make it sensible to the people and environment. If, for example, the sun is in its highest position in Milano, the light's brightness is at its maximum and its temperature is closest to white. As the sun goes down, the light dims and has a lower temperature / warmer color. The city of the lamp can be modified, showing the current sunshine in different cities of the world.
