AHA Rally & Free Wort Giveaway at Surly Brewing Company

The coolest brewery on Earth - Surly Brewing Company - gave away nearly 400 5-gallon servings of an Imperial Brown-ish wort to the attendees at this year’s American Homebrewers Association Rally at the brewery (10/10/09). This was an amazing day full of free beer, free wort and good times spent with other homebrewers from across the Midwest. The original gravity of this bad mutha was 19.5 Brix.... about 1.081! I pitched a yeast starter of Wyeast 1332 Northwest Ale into mine and it was fermenting about six hours later. Other homebrewers I talked to were pitching everything from Belgian Strong, Kolsch, Brett, London ESB, etc. Going to be a lot of different beers coming out of this experiment.
