An ever controversial topic: "Right to Life" supporters gathered today to speak out on abortion. It’s an annual event that coincides with the anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling. They "march for life" every year as part of the Governor Hoeven-proclaimed "Sanctity of Human Life week. But different this year... "right to life" leaders are urging supporters to go against the healthcare reform bill. "Right now in the back halls of Congress, and the White House we have a healthcare bill that includes funding for abortion. Now please do not believe our congressional threesome from North Dakota when it says it doesn't, because it does." North Dakota's congressional leaders have said they would not vote for a piece of legislation that has public funding for abortion. But speakers here say it's not that clear... and a human life is priceless... Some say they haven't seen anything that's threatened the pro-life community like this recent healthcare reform has. (Paul Maloney/North Dakota Right to Life) "A lot of people, including people at national "right to life" and many more organizations have said that the currrent healthcare bill in the Senate would be equal to or more threatening than Roe v. Wade ever was, to life and to individual freedom, whether or not choose to pay for abortions or the conscience of doctors to not perform abortions." The anniversary of the supreme court rulings... legalizing abortion... is January 22nd.
