URB x _st : Grand Master Citizens: Peanut Butter Wolf x Vikter Duplaix (pt1 of 2)

URB HD mobilized to cover the annual Kiss & Grind tribute to Michael Jackson held during his birthday weekend. The Los Angeles space, Bay Salone bore witness to a special video set provided by Peanut Butter Wolf and tribute sets by Vikter Duplaix (one of the show organizers) and ?uestlove. A who’s who of the DJ elite and the industry and LA's best and brightest (DJ Scratch, Samantha Ronson, Bilal, and DJ Rashida to name a few) were on hand to lend a wave of energy that in one space paid tribute to the artist, MJ and in another pushed the communal vibe and appreciate for music and art in general. Our field team, Society Theory, got a chance to catch Peanut Butter Wolf and Vikter Duplaix during a few quiet moments to bring this special two part Grand Master Citizen's crossover. Both men have reached acclaim across a number of music milestones, PBW as the head of Stones Throw and Duplaix as a Grammy nominated Singer/Producer. Their seemingly disparate backgrounds and the genre bending resume of the two artists made for an interesting juxtaposition during our conversation about music, Michael Jackson, and all things in between. The first of a two part look at these two men of musical distinction comes from the view point of Peanut Butter Wolf, as we get his thoughts on Michael Jackson, transitioning into spinning videos, the future of Stones Throw and its legacy, as well as his thoughts on his musical peers.
