Very like en gland in many ways (except for the temperature) Its really green and has lots of tea, We got up stupidly early and went to a national park, which is supposed to be famous so that we could watch the sunrise. Unfortunately it looked just like dartmoor. Could have saved the $25 and not got up at rediculous o'clock. Kandy: Found the best little pub, called 'the pub' which did excellent wine and g&t's so have adopted it as a home from home! I little bit of the Uk in Kandy. We're staying in the nicest old colonial hotel called the Queens, can imagine that it was very posh in its day. Looks like ladys in crimpoline dresses should be promenading along outside of it. Offended the porters and prompted crys of crazy english girl on arrival by porting my own bags to my room. Not the done thing apparently but have a sneeking suspison they seen dollor signs when we arrived and were annoyed about the lack of tip. Its amazing what porters try and charge in this country. Hotel has a major disadvantage. Bloody Monks. Chanting. at 4.45am. Not impressed. Whoever gave the temple a loud speaker system needs well hmm not repeatable. needless to say not very impressed and going off Buddhism as a religion very quickly!!! Reccommed by the lonely planet too. For the first time the good book ...
