Orbitz bait-and-switch scam

Orbitz uses a bait-and-switch scam in order to drive traffic to its site. Initially searches will turn up better deals than competitors' sites such as Expedia or Travelocity. If a user goes as far as clicking 'Select' on this deal, they will immediately be met with a "We’re sorry, due to changes in availability, we're unable to confirm your selection with the airline. Please make another selection." From that point on the good deal will no longer appear in subsequent searches, making it appear as if the user just barely missed the boat, or there was possibly an innocent glitch in the system which Orbitz has done their best to promptly correct. What is really going on can be revealed by asking someone else to do the same search, or just waiting an hour and trying again from your computer. The original too good to be true deal will pop up again, and send you through the same path if you go as far as click 'Select'. Lesson: Always click 'Select' before considering any deal on Orbitz, or just never use Orbitz.
