Digital Cinema Fall ‘08: Hannah P’s Challenge 3

I chose to interview my dad for several reasons. He is a funny, engaging person who has been on camera before and so knows what to do to come through the lens and draw the audience in, and he works in television, so I thought his experiences would be relevant to this class. I chose fun, upbeat music to convey his goofy personality, and used jump cuts in almost every transition because they fit who he is and also because my dad uses lots of jump cuts in his TV show, so I kind of paralleled that in that aspect of my piece. The objects I filmed all related to what he talked about in the interview. Some of them were a Romanian army hat and the Emmy he won for covering the Romanian Revolution, a caricature of himself and a "Beware of Bozo" sign that both hang in his office, and a model muscle car Guy Fieri wrote on and gave to him in honor of the show. I also included footage from the show, which I set to music and used jump cuts with. I tried to make this sequence look like it might have actually been on the show, as in have a similar style. For the most part I like how it all came together, and feel that it pretty accurately portrays my dad’s personality, as well as includes some interesting anecdotes from his life.
