A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Rome, Italy by TravelPod blogger Jessi_van_50 titled "Roaming of Roma" Jessi_van_50’s travel blog entry: "Rome- Day 1- Thursday- April 22 After flying from Gatwick airport in London at 7:10am on Thursday, April 22, we landed in Rome after about a 2-hour flight, but with the time change, it was 10:30am (with the 1 hour time difference). The Rome airport is not physically in Rome so we rode a coach for about 40 minutes to get to our hotel. As we were riding on the Italian highways, I was looking out the window, checking out the views. When we entered the city of Rome we began to see ancient ruins, and then... we rounded a corner, and sure enough- BAM!!!!! There was the Coliseum! Not an hour after landing in Rome, before our very eyes was one of the most famous locations on Earth! We continued on to our hotel seeing different landmarks, lots of statues, pizzarias, pastarias, gelatorias, ruins and a ton of people on mopeds! After getting dropped off at our hotel we lugged our luggage up the five flights of stairs... mind you, I made two separate trips. The first time with my backpack and purse. The second with about a 60-pound bag, slung on my shoulder with my arm wrapped around it up the 5 loooong flights of stairs. I will admit, I was quite impressed with myself.
