Former three-time world surfing champion Andy Irons has died at the tender age of 32. Andy was reportedly found dead in a hotel room in Dallas, returning from Puerto Rico, where he was to have competed in the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search. Rip Curl officials said Irons withdrew Sunday, citing an illness. GardenIsland.com, reports that Irons had been diagnosed with dengue fever in Puerto Rico. Dengue is a viral disease spread by mosquitoes and the most common symptoms are high fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain, vomiting, and pain behind your eyes. He took a plane and first sought medical treatment in Miami where he spent two days on an IV drip, before deciding to see his own doctor at his home in Kaua’i. He was on a layover in Dallas, when it was reportedly determined he was too sick to continue flying home, and after checking himself into a hotel, Andy never woke up, according to GardenIsland.
