Saints Hammered by Pheasants 9-1 on Friday.

ST. PAUL, MN (May 28, 2010) — The St. Paul Saints went into Friday night’s game against the best team in the league, the Sioux Falls Pheasants, trying to find out how they measured up. It turned out not to be good as they lost 9-1 at Midway Stadium in front of 4289. Saints starter Joe Woerman and Pheasants hurler Ryan Rodriguez were locked in a great battle through the first three innings, but then the Pheasants flexed their muscles in the fourth. With two outs Brandon Sing lined one off the glove of left fielder Josh Alley for an error. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Eddy Rodriguez who clubbed one over the left field wall, his sixth of the season, which made it 4-0. That was all Pheasants starter Ryan Rodriguez would need. He dazzled through 8.0 innings and didn't allow a man to third until the sixth. With runners at second and third and two outs Brent Krause grounded out to end the inning. Ryan Rodriguez started the ninth trying to go for the complete game shutout, but Ole Sheldon led off the inning with a solo bomb to left, sixth of the season and one batter later Rodriguez left the game. He went 8.0 innings allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four in 108 pitches. Saints starter Woerman allowed five runs (one earned) in 6.0 innings of work on just three hits while walking seven and striking out five.
