After a little guessing and some pure dumb luck I ended up on the right train, heading in the right direction. I Dropped my main pack at the hostel and took off into the city. Brussels is actually the capital of Europe. The European Union has all it's major buildings here from meeting halls to parliaments. The area around the EU buildings has to be one of the richest areas I've ever seen. The amount of high end stores puts the Magnificent Mile to shame, with one designer after another. Restaurants where the average meal started at 75 euro. I thought for sure someone was either going to kick me out of this area, or charge me for using the sidewalk. Needless to say, I didn't spend a lot of time down around there. Fortunately that is not the real Brussels, in fact, it is far from it. The real Brussels is decorated with huge Gothic buildings broken up by worn down, and war-marked buildings that still show the damage of WWII, when it was heavily bombed by the Germans. Of course the underground system throughout Brussels was started after the bombing because of the huge holes left all throughout the city, and is now the main mode of transportation throughout.
